How to Make a Sticky Bra or Backless Bra
Want to learn how to make a sticky bra? Read this handy tutorial and you’ll be making your own sticky bras in no time.
During spring, most stores stock up backless tops and dresses. These clothes are cute. However, no one likes strappy bras under these types of outfits and this is where the sticky bra comes in.
Sticky bras are also known as backless, adhesive, or stick-on bras. The bras usually adhere on the skin using a medical grade adhesive.
Some sticky bras are not skin-friendly and may be painful to remove. Moreover, when taken off hastily, they can ruin your entire outfit.
Still, when donning that cool outfit with a plunging neckline, a sticky bra will come in handy, especially if you can’t go braless, as it helps prevent your nipples from showing. Besides, you need to get a perfect fit since wardrobe malfunctions can be quite embarrassing.
In this guide, you’ll learn how to make your own sticky bra.
How to Make a Sticky Bra
What you need:
- A padded bra
- A pair of scissors
- Two sewing pins
- Needle
- Thread
Here’s how to make a sticky bra;
- Use the pair of scissors to cut off the straps at the bottom of the bra, where they join the band at the back. This should leave you with the two bra cups and loose hanging straps.
- Cut the band at the edge around the sides of the bra cups
- Place the straps at the centre on the underwire and do the same on the other side as well
- Use a sewing pin to secure the strap in position
- Try it on, wearing it as you would a backpack to ensure it has a perfect fit but be careful since the pins are still in place
- Once you get a better fit, thread your needle and sew in the bra straps
Alternatively, you can cut off the entire straps and sides of the band and apply fabric glue on the bra cups then stick it on your dress or top.
Ta da, you have your backless bra with an in-built bra!
Now, this is not exactly a sticky bra. However, it will not have the straps, and is a good alternative to a sticky bra.
