Best Longline Strapless Bra for Plus Size

Which is the best longline strapless bra plus size wear? After much research, we have three of the best options. Find out what the bras are.

Initially, I had planned to write a single review of the best strapless bras. However, as I was researching, I quickly discovered that there is a lot of discussion around strapless bras.

Moreover, when it comes to plus size strapless longline bras, there is more to be considered than what you would usually do with the regular strapless bras.

In the other article, I’ve compared and contrasted both the standard bra and longline bra. If you are planning to buy a strapless bra, whether a longline or a general one, I suggest you read the review.

On this page, I’m only tackling bustiers and longline bras for plus size women that keep the breasts lifted.

Difference Between Bustier and Longline Bra

Dominique Bridal Full Figure Lace Torsolette

A bustier is somehow similar to a corset. Wearing a corset makes the waist narrower, giving you a great body shape.

In the past, most corsets were tough. The main materials used to make corsets were steel and whalebone. Some modern corsets are still made of steel.

While corsets may be made of steel, bustiers are usually made of pliable material, such as plastic. The material used to make a bustier does not provide as rigorous shaping as a corset does. Generally, bustiers fit the bust snugly and end at the hips.

What is a Longline Bra?

A longline bra is a bra with a relatively larger band. This bra typically extends past the hips.

Longline bras are available in various lengths, from ½, ¾, and even full length.

However, some manufacturers are abusing the term “longline” with their wear. For example, I’ve seen a couple of bras whose bands are slightly larger, and that extend a few inches past the melons labelled as longlines.

A longline bra supports the bust similarly to how a bustier does. Some longline bras have boning but this is not the case all the time. You shouldn’t always expect boning, especially with longline bras that are a little shorter.

Tips for Buying a Longline Bra

The most important factor to keep in mind when looking for a strapless longline bra is structure.

Some longline bras are designed specifically to shape your bust. These longlines are quite rigid in structure. There are also those that fit loosely.

When shopping, keep in mind the tightness as well as the shaping of the longline bra.

If your torso is a little bit shorter, check the length of the longline bra you want. A full-length longline bra might end up showing through the clothes.

If you have a wide midsection, you want a longer or shorter bra. A shorter bra will ensure you don’t show an awkward line while a longer one with good structure will shape the midsection.

I’ve done a lot of research to determine which are the best longline bras for plus size women. Without further ado, let’s get to the bras.

Best Longline Strapless Bra for Plus Size

#1. Goddess Lace Longline Bra

Goddess Lace Longline Bra

Available on Amazon

When it comes to supportive bras for plus size women, no other brand can match what Goddess has on the market. The Goddess Lace Longline Bra is one of the plus size garments by this brand.

The Goddess Longline bra is beautiful, features a full-cup, and ends around the midriff. If you have a smaller bust and struggle to fit in longer bustiers/longlines, this cut would be a great option for you.

Cup

The Lace Longline bra does not keep to the trends. The bra, unlike is the case with most strapless bras, comes with a soft cup. The 4-part cup is boned and features vertical lines that will nicely shape your breasts and keep them lifted. If you’d like the melons to be really well-contained, I suggest you go a cup higher.

The Goddess longline strapless bra will lift your breasts well. However, I noticed it runs high. Therefore, you may want to check your dress neckline before buying it.

The bra’s underwire nicely separates the breasts but does not go as wide as Elomi’s longline bra. However, it does not offer a lot of cleavage.

The Goddess bra is pointy, as expected. However, while you may not like the boning, the bra will shape your breasts nicely if you get the right size.

If you don’t like the bulk that molded cup bras usually add, you will love the bra’s unlined cup.

TIP: If you have sensitive skin, you may want to wash the bra a few times before wearing so that it softens a little.

Band/Bodice

goddess-back

The band/body of this longline strapless bra plus size option has 7 hooks across all sizes. I found the bra to run a little small. So, you have to be careful with the sizing. I like that the bra has boning throughout as this helps to shape the bust properly.

However, the midriff length was a little tricky for me. If you get this longline strapless bra for plus size too tight, your tummy will be shaped smooth above the belly button. If you have a big tummy, expect a reverse muffin top on the bottom.

For petite women or those with shorter torsos who’d like a flatter tummy, this longline bra would be perfect. If you are a bit heavy, this strapless bra will still be good to wear. However, you may want to check that you’re not wearing it with dresses made of thin materials or tight-fitting dresses.

Overall

The Goddess delivers everything that I expect from a longline bra. You’ll be confident wearing this bra and won’t have to worry about anything falling down.

However, because of the length where the bra ends, you should wear it with a dress that will balance well the difference between the shape of the bra and your natural body curves.

#2. Dominique Satin Torsolette

Dominique Satin Torsolette

Available on Amazon

If you are looking for a plus size strapless bustier, or a “torsolette”, you should check out bridal bustiers. Given that they are wedding wears, you can be sure that they are pretty.

The Dominique Satin Bridal Bustier reaches the hips. Therefore, it offers great shaping and a smoothing look under various tight-fitting outfits.

Cup

The strapless bra cup is designed to complement various types of dresses. The cup is not full and, therefore, can go well with different necklines.

The cups feature a 2-part design that lifts the melons and gives them a nice shape. Like the Goddess longline strapless bra, this bridal bustier lacks cleavage.

The cups of the plus size strapless bra do not have inbuilt panels or boning for support. Therefore, you won’t come out shapely as much as you would in a Goddess. The cup seaming may be your only way of getting shape from the bra, which may not be ideal for you depending on how full your breasts are.

Some bit of good news, though: the cup is lightly lined and has a more rigid underside to help keep the melons lifted.

The Dominique plus size bra performs well when it comes to lifting the breasts. However, I feel the Goddess does a much better job. My sisters fit the cup of the Dominque bra but don’t set as high as they do in the Goddess. Despite the support issues with the cups, the breasts were held up well.

Band/Bodice

dominique satin torsolette back

At the back, the bustier has 12 rows of hooks. Therefore, you may need someone to help you when putting it on.

The bustier is designed like a corset and has boning in the side arms that will give you an excellent shape. Wearing this bra will give you an hourglass figure.

If I was to come up with the best Franken-bra, its bust area will be inspired by the Goddess longline while the bodice will be inspired by the Dominique Satin Torsolette bustier.

Overall

The design of the bra area makes me hesitant to wear it alone. However, when you cover it with a dress, the results are clear; this is a great torsolette. For even better results, I would suggest you wear the longline bra with a dress with a snug bustline.

The bra will give your body a smooth look under a dress.

While cup shape may not be the best, don’t just dismiss the bra yet. In fact, you should wear it under a dress before making the final decision on whether to continue keeping it.

If you prefer a sexier option, you can get the bra with a lace option.

#3. Carnival Women’s Full-Figure Satin-Corset Bra

Carnival Women’s Full-Figure Satin-Corset Bra

Available on Amazon

I’m usually hesitant to purchase soft cup strapless bras. However, when I came across the Carnival Women’s Full-Figure Satin-Corset Bra, I had to try it. The bra’s cups are not molded. However, they have a thick lining and, therefore, are stronger than fabric-only cups.

Cup

The Carnival bra has pointy cups. The cups are made of a rigid fabric with a single seam, which gives it an old-school shape.

The bra cups lack support panels. Therefore, you will be relying on the lightly padded cups to keep your breasts up.

I found the cups to be a little big for me, which I don’t like. If you are looking to buy this bra, I would suggest you go one size down so that you can fill it properly.

Band/Bodice

Carnival Womens Full Figure Satin Corset Bra back

This bra has a great torso shape! Boning is well-interspersed along the bra, giving it a nice shape. While the shape is not a perfect hourglass, the bodice flares out towards the bottom. This bra will give you a smooth look, even if you have a tummy, if you pair with a high-waisted underwear.

The boning is obvious On the bra but this does not make it rigid. For those who are a little heavy, I wouldn’t recommend the bra if your weight is not well distributed. For example, if most of your fat is around the tummy but still have a “normal” sized chest, you may want to look for another bra as this one is likely to leave you with some buckling.

The major disadvantage of the boning is that it is raised compared to the panels in-between and unmissable. If you wear this bra with really light or sheet fabric, the boning is likely to show up. Keep this in mind before buying.

The bra comes up relatively high on the back to provide adequate support. Therefore, the bra would not be suitable for wearing with any kind of plunge dresses.

I found the band to run pretty small. To find the perfect fit, I went up two sizes to find a bra that I could hook.

Overall

The Carnival Women’s Strapless bra is simple but beautiful. Its torso contains and controls the breasts well, leaving you feeling sexy. I also like the optional adjustable garters that can be used with the longline bra. If you want to buy a plus size longline strapless bra and are okay with the cups being a little pointy, go for this bra.

Conclusion

It is not easy to find a good strapless longline plus size bra. From my research, the three bras above are the best options currently available on the market.
