Wondering how often you should wash your bras? Read on to find out.
Most people tend to either avoid or forget washing their bras when doing laundry, with some arguing that hand washing is difficult and time consuming. Then there are those who can’t tell if the bras are dirty enough or how often they you wash them.
Should bras be washed as often as t-shirts or rarely like jeans?
The answer to this question may vary since it all depends on you.
So, how often should you wash bras?
First off, you should always wash your bras every once or twice a week. However, this is not a rule of thumb as there are factors to put into consideration.
For instance, the number of bras you have on rotation and climatic conditions. If the temperatures run high, chances are you are sweating a lot in your bras hence you’ll need to wash them regularly or as often as possible. Those in cold areas can get away with not washing their bras frequently. However, having several bras on rotation will reduce the strain on them allowing you to hold off the laundry a little longer.
How often to wash bras depends on your judgement. You can always launder your undergarments anytime you notice they look dingy, have a funny smell or even when you can’t remember the last time you had them washed! Wearing a dirty bra can cause the dirt to rub into the skin resulting in break outs, irritation and sometimes bacterial infections.
How to Clean Your Bra
You need to treat your bras gently as they are delicate and contain different technical components. However, this doesn’t mean hand washing the bras only. It’s the most preferred method when it comes to bra care but some can be machine washed. When machine washing, ensure you put them in a lingerie bag before throwing them into the cycle to avoid damaging the fabric then air dry them. Avoid putting bras into the dryer.
